Our Story …
In 1877 crown land was released to encourage settlers. In 1880 an Irishman, Michael O'Connor took up settlement and built his homestead on these very grounds. Which he called "Paradise".
By 1900 O'Connor extended his homestead to include a store and he was granted a wine licence. The narrow gauge railway, built to open up the land for settlement, opened in December 1900. By 1903 the little train that tackled the steep hills was nicknamed Puffing Billy. Which by arrangement can drop you at our back door.
In April 1902 the name "Paradise Valley" was submitted to council for a new station on the property And the Paradise Valley was born ...
